Never Regrind Rollers

Regrinding is a short-term gain and a long-term loss.

Folder rollers before and after

Recovery is better than regrinding.

Folder Rollers does not regrind rollers. Suppliers who offer regrinding may save a small amount over recovery prices, but recovery replaces the urethane and adds maximum life to the rollers.

When rollers are reground, a portion of the total roller diameter is removed, including metal and urethane. The rollers may look good, but they are often on the low side of OEM diameter specs or below.

Regrinding creates mismatched rollers.

Regrinding ignores differing wear across a roller set. High spots are ground down to match low spots, leaving rollers with different diameters.

Mismatched roller diameters can cause gathering, reduced running speeds, worn-down knurls, and lost traction.

Key Notes

  • Reground rollers may be undersized relative to OEM specifications.
  • Knurl teeth can be erased, reducing traction.
  • The urethane is not truly rejuvenated.
  • Recovery replaces urethane and is covered by a one-year warranty.
